This is going to be a lot for Jamaica. Devastating implications 😢
So here’s what I suggest. Anyone traveling in the next 30 days -
Step 1: Contact them
Step 2: Depending on insurance they will have more options with insurance. Less without.
Step 3: let them know you will not know right away what has happened to the resorts, when they will open, etc.
Step 4: Ask for patience and remind them that their vacation is very important but it will be slow to get info.
Step 5: Join FB groups for the hotels you need info on. Make sure you’re in touch with BDM and getting emails from BDMs about the storm. Follow the resorts on social media. (If you need to reach out to the BDM personally you MUST reach out to your Platinum/FC first)
Step 6: Assure them you are on it and following up with options as soon as they are available.
If you have questions about trips traveling in the next 3-4 weeks, know it could be DAYS before we know the severity of damages. It could be weeks or months until some resorts reopen to full capacity.
This storm is no joke. Make sure they understand that too. It’s not good news. It means they may need to reschedule or choose another destination.
Be proactive and make sure they know you are watching. Make sure they know you care about Jamaicans. Provide links to recovery donation sites that are legit as well. Put them in a position to help besides worry only about vacations.
This is a deadly storm. In many areas it could take years. This is a storm people will not forget.
