Learn About FODMAPs
FODMAPs are certain types of carbohydrates that some people have trouble digesting.
When these carbs aren’t absorbed well, they travel to the gut where bacteria ferment them. This can cause gas, bloating, stomach pain, diarrhea, or constipation — especially in people with sensitive digestive systems (like IBS).
You can describe them as:👉 “Hard-to-digest sugars that can irritate the gut.”
FODMAP stands for:
Fermentable
Oligosaccharides
Disaccharides
Monosaccharides
And Polyols
But for beginners, it’s easiest to say: “They’re carbs that can cause tummy trouble in some people.”
