⚾ WHAT IS A QUALITY AT-BAT? 🐺
PACK NATION — Let's talk about something that separates good hitters from great TEAM players!
Too many young athletes judge their success at the plate by one thing: Did I get a hit?
But here's what we need to teach our players:
🔥 A QUALITY AT-BAT ISN'T ALWAYS A HIT!
A quality at-bat is about competing, executing, making adjustments, and doing something that helps your team WIN.
⚾ 8 Ways to Earn a Quality At-Bat
- 💥 Hard Barrel Contact — Square the baseball up! You can't always control where it goes, but you can control the quality of your contact.
- 🤝 Team-First At-Bat — Execute a bunt, move a runner, hit behind a runner, or do whatever the situation demands.
- 💪 Hit By Pitch (HBP) — Get on base and give your team another opportunity to score.
- 👀 Base on Balls (Walk) — Show discipline, control the strike zone, and make the pitcher work.
- 🔥 8+ Pitch At-Bat — Battle! Drive up the pitch count, see more pitches, and help your teammates.
- 🏃 Score a Run Any Way — Whether it's a hit, walk, error, sacrifice, or wild pitch, finding a way to cross home plate matters!
- 🎯 Two-Strike Hit — Adjust your approach, compete with two strikes, and find a way to put the ball in play for a hit.
- 🧠 4+ Pitches After an 0–2 Count — You're down 0–2, but you're NOT OUT! Fight, foul off tough pitches, and make the pitcher earn that out.

We need to stop teaching young hitters that their batting average determines their value.
A player can go 0-for-3 and still have three outstanding at-bats.
When we reward the PROCESS instead of just the RESULT, we develop more confident, disciplined, mentally tough hitters.
Great hitters compete. Great teammates execute. Great teams celebrate BOTH!
