Links
Hi all! Looking for recommendations on how to set up links. Or if you’re willing to share what you do I’d love to hear! I’m currently in the process of switching from author helper suite to publisher champ because I like PC UI and reporting better. But I’m wondering if I really need yet another subscription to pay for, or could I just use Genius links or something (I know, Genius links is also a subscription /sigh) I just want something simple and free if possible. I’m really struggling to keep all the spaghetti links straight. Back matter, ads, promos, newsletters, link tree, etc. Any guidance or help is welcome!
Reader Magnet Backmatter
Is there a best practice for what goes at the back of the reader magnet? As in, just the link and blurb to Book 1? Or links and blurbs for just the series, or entire catalog? Currently, one magnet has just the series (interconnected standalones). I have a new magnet going out this month for a new novella series. My thought is just to link to its Book 1. Thanks!
Cover change feedback
At the beginners meeting it was fed back that my covers weren’t very cohesive (working through them atm) and especially the collection I had was confusing new readers (hence barely any sales/KU reads since launch in July). After not finding a boxset image I could work with (aside from the fact it was never going to be a physical boxset) I saw some books using digital mockups and decided to try that. I made the mistake of asking my readers who hated the idea (although a few measure voices did say the cover was confusing for new readers). So I changed it and it’s selling now (albeit small sales compared to some, but it also has steady order numbers too). I’m not advertising it, but I did do a freebie promo just before I changed the cover so it’s not a perfect experiment. But as you can see it was dead prior to that and normally with a promo I see a steep tail. The second image is the Amazon ebook cover (centrally is the original cover which is the paperback wrap). I also made new covers for all the short stories inside as I intend to release them all to KU separately. Aesthetically this new ebook cover isn’t as pretty as the original, but it clearly tells the reader what they are getting even at thumbnail size. So for me this was worth it and this kind of change if you have a collection and Canva is doable for most I’d imagine.

Readthrough rate--help understanding numbers
Hi. First time calculating this, so I'm not sure what the numbers mean. If anyone has a moment and knows how to dig into these numbers--please share any insights. :) @Malorie Cooper could you please take a look? I found your amazing spreadsheet online and it was really helpful! Not sure if this might impact the numbers but just in case. I had my first book priced at 99C all year. I'm also in KU. My first book was in Prime Reading June-August 2024. I did 3 free bookblasts for Book 1 in January, June, and October and had 15k downloads total.

Ad effect
I launched on the 15th and saw a usual spike but as it began to tail I launched my ad on the 25th (it wasn’t part of the plan it just took a while to get myself sorted for my first ever ad) it’s quite cool to see the KENP head back up again (this is all books but the read through is important as although this is a standalone it’s also book 3 of a series). First pick is all books and second is my new release. I’ve been monitoring my attribution link and I don’t think it’s picking everything up. In fact when I click an ad I always have to go search for it as it doesn’t take me to my Amazon page so I can’t be the only one. I’m so glad I joined though and pulled my finger out. I’m excited for the New Year and setting up some longer term ads.
