When someone requests to join a community,
but you can see they’ve joined 50+ other communities and aren’t active anywhere…
what do you think that usually means?
Some see it as harmless, just networking.
Others suspect it’s less about contributing and more about DM-ing members.
Others will take that person to inflate their numbers.
It raises an interesting question around intent, trust, and culture inside communities.
high-quality conversations, real participation, and people who actually want to build, not just collect access.
So I’m curious 👇
Should communities be open by default?
Or selective to protect engagement and the member experience?
