LOOKING AT THIS WEEK, I CAN FEEL IT ALREADY
This week is going to start with a bit of an overwhelming day because Lily has her face-to-face assessment with the Child Paediatric Psychologist . I already know it’s going to send her into overdrive because she’s seeing a doctor she’s never met before, answering questions, and having to interact with someone she doesn’t know, which is really challenging for her.
Alongside that, I’ve got things happening in my community, conversations and connections that I absolutely love, especially with mums who are going through similar things to what me and Lily have gone through or are still going through. Sometimes things come up that are completely different to my own experience too, and that’s actually really good to see.
I’m also getting things organised for my trip to Bali. I’m very much a planner, thanks autism, and I need to know the what, the when, and the where so I’m not left last minute planning. Because last minute planning sends my nervous system into overdrive.
We also need to get Lily’s sleep medication sorted because she’s run out, and we’re getting back into our daily exercise schedule because that slipped over Christmas.
When I look at this week, I can see how much emotional and mental load sits underneath what looks like “just life”. It’s parenting, planning, supporting, regulating, and still showing up in the places that matter to me.
When you look at your week ahead, what’s the part that takes up the most space in your head, even if no one else sees it?
