Unbreakable: The Tests Were Part of the Path
The Path I Was Meant to Walk
Three days ago, my cousin texted me some old family photos. One of me with my siblings. One of me and my brother. And one with all four of us—Mom and Dad included. Only two of us are still here now. Me, and my sister Joan, standing in the back on the left. This photo made me reflect deeply on destiny and life path. Out of all my siblings, I’m the only one my ancestors guided into Ifa. I’m the only one who raised a stable family. Because of my journey in Ifa, I’m now known around the world—something that isn’t true for anyone else in my immediate or extended family. This wasn’t about chance. This was destiny. It makes me wonder about all of us: What do you feel your destiny is? In what ways are you similar to your family? In what ways are you different? And what happened in your life that brought you to where you are today? Reflection is powerful. Let’s talk about it.

Waves Pass. So, Will This.
Life moves in cycles ebbs and flows, arrivals and departures, rising and falling tides. When things feel heavy, remember: this is a phase, not a forever. What you are going through will pass. Question: Looking back, can you name a phase you once thought would last forever—but didn’t? What changed?

The Sacred Cycle of Ending and Becoming
One of my elders in Ifa used to say: there is no ending without a beginning, and no beginning without an ending. It is the cycle of life. I was taught this during divination training more than 20 years ago, and it still rings true today. The man in this picture initiated me into the Ifa tradition. His name was Aseda. If he were alive today, he would tell you the same thing he told me: Open your doors. Let go of the things—and the people—that are not helping your growth. So let me ask you: Where in your life does something need to end so that a new beginning can emerge? What are you still clinging to that’s keeping you from truly living again? Sit with that. The answer matters.

Finding the Light Within the Darkness
Where there’s darkness, there is also light. And where there’s light, there is also darkness. This isn’t just a philosophy — it’s life. Every situation you encounter carries both. The challenge and the lesson. The struggle and the growth. The invitation is balance. To stop resisting the darkness. To stop clinging only to the light. Instead, look for the blessing. Look for the lesson. Look for how this moment is shaping you. Reflection Questions: 1. Where in your life are light and darkness showing up at the same time? 2. What current challenge might be carrying a lesson you haven’t noticed yet? 3. How do you typically respond when you find yourself in a difficult season?
