Another week and across the world, many people are leading themselves so they can lead others. When another new year shines brightly with opportunities, what type of questions do you ask yourself? What type of questions do you ask your team?
Why are questions so crucial?
Neuroscience shows that intentional self‑questioning activates the prefrontal cortex, the centre of awareness, choice and ethical decision‑making, while calming reactive stress circuits in the nervous system.
When practised consistently, reflection strengthens empathy, clarity and accountability. Reflection therefore shapes leaders who create healthier cultures and contribute beyond themselves.
Small daily questions create powerful neural shifts. Over time, they shape thriving leaders, healthier workplaces and learning environments—and a more compassionate, resilient world.
Wellbeing is not separate from leadership. It is how leadership endures.

Why not give the checklist some allocated time this week and share your thoughts in the comments with us all. Go gently, Carrie Benedet
