Katie Leigh, a voice actor friend (who’s been in stuff like Darkwing Duck, Adventures in Odyssey, Muppet Babies, My Little Pony, and lots of other stuff!) came to visit this weekend since she’s doing a nearby “Con” event. She’s been showing me some of her gear that she auditions with while on the road. This in an interface and shotgun mic and they sound AMAZING. I compared this Audio Technica mic with a Sennheiser MKH 416 and I really couldn’t tell the difference. Great options for a mobile (or permanent!) studio. Shotgun mics are a great option for less than ideal studio spaces.

Editing in Audacity and Youtube Shorts
Tonight was great! We did a screen share and went over some editing basics using Audacity and then talked about some ways of growing on YouTube (a fantastic place to find work).

Just do the thing.
Since it's sometimes fun and can be an encouragement to share the spaces we use.. here is a peek from back in 2023 into my main studio where I record most of my work. I do have a Snap Studio booth as well that I bought after a hurricane made life a little difficult, but I still tend to use my main little booth. I now have a Bluetooth keyboard and external monitor set on the music stand so I can keep track of my recording and read my scripts at the sane time. I am planning to do some updating in it soon (you can tweak things as you go), but I'm almost hesitant to since I get such a great sound. All that to say... Use your spaces. If you have a walk in closet, some sleeping bags and comforters and pillows, you can make a great sound. Also, I kinda like the bright eclectic look. It suits me. Just do the thing! Fancy expensive spaces can come later if you want them, but as long as you have a microphone and some "soft stuff" you can get started.
Just do the thing.
