On my mind
I’ve been thinking about this lately. When I was 21 (2009), I touched 94 mph as a two-sport athlete. I’m grateful for that time and everything sports taught me—but looking back, I don’t think the biggest question was ever “should I have picked one sport?” I think what I really needed was an intentional baseball plan. And honestly, that’s a big reason I believe I’m a good coach today: I’m confident in what I know, but I’m not arrogant about it. If there’s something I don’t understand yet—mechanics, programming, arm care, pitch design—I don’t ignore it. I study it. I ask questions. I learn from people ahead of me… then I bring it back to my players in a simple way they can actually use. That’s my mindset right now: I’m shrinking the gaps—so my athletes don’t have to
