Hi everyone, I 'm based in Australia, working predominantly with premium Australian made professional solutions. I would like to start a discussion around overnight tanning, particularly for clients who book evening appointments and specifically prefer to sleep in their tans. My preference is always to steer clients towards a rapid tan wherever possible, as I find this gives me greater control over development time and the desired dept of colour. However, some clients specifically prefer an overnight tan and due to their schedules realistically won't be able to rinse until the following morning. Many of my overnight solutions I work with recommend development 6-8 hours, but for these clients, were potentially looking at 10 hours before their first rinse. I'm interested to hear how other experienced technicans approach this, particularly when working with clients wanting a medium to dark result without compromising the final colour or fade. Do you specifically select traditional overnight formulations for these clients, or have you found certain rapid solutions perform equally well with extended wear? Have you noticed a significant difference in depth, undertone or fade when a recommended 6 hour solution is left on for 10 hours? Do you adjust your solution choice, DHA percentage or application technique when you know a client will be sleeping in their tan? Are there particular formulations you've found consistently reliable for longer development times, especially across different skin types? I appreciate we all work with different professional brands internationally, but I am particularly interested in the practical experience behind your choices rather than specific brand recommendations. For me consistency, a natural looking colour and an even fade are just as important as achieving the clients desired depth. I would love to hear what works in your spray tanning studio's. 🤎

Just curious what everyone else does when using a post-tan hydration oil. If I finish a tan with hydration oil, I personally don’t use finishing powder after the oil. However, I’ve noticed some tanners apply hydration oil and then finishing powder over the top. For those who do this, what’s the reasoning behind applying powder after the oil? Do you find it affects the hydration benefits of the oil at all, or is it mainly to take away that slightly tacky/oily feeling? Genuinely curious as I’m always interested in hearing how others finish their tans 🤎

I have a very fair/pale regular client who I’ve tanned many times and she has always had amazing results – lovely deep, dark, even colour and a flawless finish. She was recently quite poorly and was on antibiotics and steroids for around two weeks. I advised her not to have a spray tan while taking them and to wait until she was feeling better. I also explained that, even afterwards, there was a possibility her tan might develop differently while her body was recovering/from medication still being in her system, which she completely understood. Several weeks later she came back for her usual tan, but this time it hardly developed at all – just a very slight colour change. We left it another couple of weeks and tried again, but unfortunately the same thing happened. Nothing else has changed and she previously developed beautifully every single time. Has anyone experienced anything similar following illness, antibiotics or steroids? And is there anything you’d recommend trying next time – different solution/DHA %, prep, or anything else – to help her achieve a deep, dark tan again? I currently use Minetan. Any advice or recommendations would be really appreciated. Thank you! 🤎
