Different skin types
When you assess the client’s skin, which solution do you usually choose for different skin types? For example, what would you use on oily skin, very greasy skin, and dry skin? And when would you intentionally use a solution with Alcohol Denat. — and when would you rather avoid it? I’m trying to understand better how different formulations perform on different skin types, especially in terms of development, longevity, and how the tan wears off.

Hi @Asina Göhr I tend to assess my clients overall skin condition rather than just whether they are oily or dry (hydration levels, skin barrier, body chemistry, age & lifestyle). That gives a better indication of which solution will perform best. I also ask relevant questions on my clients consent form before their appointment so I can choose the most suitable solution. For Oily skin I use a faster drying Alcohol based solution and good pH prep. For dry or mature skin I use more hydrating solutions. I use Alcohol based solutions when I want faster drying and better adhesion especially on oily skin or in humidity. Be more cautious with very dry or sensitive skin using an Alcohol based solution. Hope this helps.🤎
Urgent help needed – bride has white rings under her arms
Help! I had a bride who came to me for a trial tan and now also had her final wedding tan. During the trial, there was already a small ring that developed at the front around her armpit area. I assumed at the time that she may have sweated. Because of that, this time I dried her even more thoroughly than usual and powdered her really well. She also wore an oversized T-shirt afterwards. And now this is the result. I have honestly never had this happen before and I’m really shocked. She didn’t have any deodorant on. How can this happen, and is there any way I can still save it?

I agree with @France Velasquez it looks like she may have perspired during the developing period. You could try gently buffing the area with the fine side of a tan removal mitt and then applying a bronzing powder to blend the colour. If she's having professional makeup done, the makeup artist should be able to colour-match the area beautifully. Another option is to apply a very light layer of gradual tan if the contrast is noticeable. Personally, I'd lean towards bronzing powder, as there's no risk of creating a mismatch in tone or undertone. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Sometimes things happen that are outside of our control. Good luck, and please let us know how she goes! 🤎

Part 3 - just a little update on the blower after using it on a number of my clients I am now thinking that some of my clients would prefer the brush application method. The ritual of the brush is like a pamper session to some. I am thinking I will give my regular clients the option moving forward. 🤎
Henna and spray tan
Hi everyone, I have a bride who is getting both henna and a spray tan before her wedding. What would you recommend doing first?

Hi @Asina Göhr, I haven't had firsthand experience with henna body art except for the henna application to the eyebrows and I always tell my clients that you need to do any type of eyebrow tinting or henna 24 hours prior to your tan. Based on this I would spray tan first then wait 24 hours before doing the henna and try to avoid washing the henna area excessively afterwards. Fresh henna needs to stain the skin properly and develop over 24-48 hours and spray tan acts as a barrier on the skin and can interfere with henna staining if the henna is done first. Plus, I would assume the henna appointment would involve rubbing and washing areas afterwards all things that can damage a fresh spray tan. Hope this helps. Would love to see a photo of your bride if she provides you one. 🤎
Earth and Fig Finishing Oil
Hi everyone, I just ordered the Earth and Fig Finishing Oil and wanted to find out how much I would need to use per client on average so I can do some calculations prior to receiving the product? Your thoughts on the product as well would be really helpful. Thanks in advance. 🤎
