Hello Introduction!

I am Jaime living in Mesa Arizona, USA with my dear 4 cats, my crazy 3 dogs and a housemate.

As a writer, animal advocate, community instigator, artist, disabled vet (veterinarian that is), I live in Mesa, Arizona. I had a brain infection and "lost" my animal hospital, my vocation, my marriage, and my ability to continue with endurance triathlons. It was not tragic, as most immediately think, but the best thing that ever happened to me. I learned what is truly important in life.

I was not living my highest ideals and filled my hours with hectic work. I had all the money I could have wanted but took no time to enjoy it or appreciate what I had achieved. Now, I am without much means but living each day in the present and determined to get the word to millions of pet parents who have struggled to face the decision to euthanize their pet, that there is another, more holistic choice if they are brave enough to try.

I am writing a memoir illustrating, through stories of my patients and pets, why I offered hospice care and how animals can teach us about dying and living.

I recently also graduated from the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, training under Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. It was an (ironically) intense two-year program. After mindfulness meditation has given me so much transformational joy, I want to bring this gift to as many people as I can. As our world has become more dangerous and misaligned with my ideals and ethics, I believe our liberation lies in connecting with our bodies, each other, and the earth through aware Lovingkindness.

I have developed a mindfulness mini-retreat for writers, teachers individuals and volunteer for a free Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course.

I am looking forward to this community! Thank you for the opportunity!

(PPS and as you can tell from this and the other post I made I’m one of those writers who has more ideas than I know what to do with, but definitely, most assuredly need some great editors)
