First Week Check-In: What’s your Scalp Discovery? 🕵️‍♀️
"We’ve officially survived our first week in the Foundation! 🥳 I’ve been seeing some new faces join the group and I want to give a massive welcome to everyone who introduced themselves this week. You are in the right place to finally bridge the gap between 'hair trends' and actual science. I know many of you saw my 'Know Your Scalp' mission earlier this week. If you haven't commented yet because you weren't sure what to say. This is for you. Observation is the very first step of being a practitioner. You don't need fancy tools yet; you just need to start seeing patterns. Today’s Question: What is one thing you noticed about your scalp or hair this week that you’ve never paid attention to before? Was it a bit of redness? A certain 'tight' feeling? Or maybe you realised you've been guessing your hair type for years? Drop your 'Aha!' moment below. No long reports needed—just one sentence! 👇 I’ll be hanging out in the comments today to help you translate what those observations might mean for your Fiber Physics. Let’s celebrate the small wins together! "

📸 Challenge #1: Know Your Scalp
This week’s challenge: Take a proper look at your scalp - maybe for the first time ever. Your mission: 1. Part your hair in 3-4 sections 2. Look at your scalp (use your phone camera if it helps you see better or just use a mirror) 3. Notice what you CAN see: Colour? Any visible buildup? Flaking? Redness? How much scalp shows through (density)? What you can observe yourself: ∙ Scalp colour (pale, pink, red, brown tones) ∙ Visible buildup or flaking ∙ How dense your hair looks (can you see lots of scalp or very little?) ∙ Any obvious irritation or redness What you CAN’T fully assess with just your eyes/phone: ∙ Follicle health (needs trichoscope) ∙ pH levels (needs testing) ∙ Inflammation beneath the surface ∙ Exact causes of what you’re seeing This is just observation - not diagnosis. Share in the comments: ∙ What surprised you when you actually looked? ∙ What did you notice that you’d never paid attention to before? ∙ One question about what you’re seeing No judgment. Just observation. Let’s learn to SEE our scalps together. Drop your findings below 👇 (Photos optional - even just describing what you noticed is great!) I’ll go first in the comments to show you what I mean. Tanesha 🌱

Welcome to The Scalp Story Foundation: Your Science-Based Start 🌱
I’ve always loved hair. As a hairdresser and makeup artist, I spent years making people feel beautiful. But over time, I started seeing something I couldn’t fix with a cut or a product recommendation. I saw clients losing their hair. Family members struggling. People I cared about—especially those with textured hair—asking for help. And I had nothing real to offer but surface solutions. “Try this oil.” “Avoid heat.” “Maybe it’s stress.” I realised that for textured hair (curly, wavy, coily), the advice was based on appearance, not science. It ignored structure, mechanics, and material behavior. That’s why I became a Trichology Practitioner. I didn't stop loving hair—I wanted to understand it. I am currently studying Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology because hair loss isn't just about the scalp. It’s about your gut health, your hormones, and your immune system. The Core Belief: Understanding Beats Products Most people don’t have a hair problem. They have an understanding problem. You’ve been taught to follow routines, but you haven't been taught how hair actually works. Inside this community, we focus on: - Geometry & Structure: Curls as biomechanical features, not categories. - Material Behavior: How porosity, elasticity, and stiffness actually work. - The Internal-External Connection: How your body (gut/hormones) speaks through your scalp. - Assessment Before Action: Learning to read patterns instead of reacting to today's dryness. 🚀 HOW TO GET STARTED To ensure you get the most out of this foundation, please complete these 3 steps: Step 1: Introduce Yourself Below In the comments, tell us: 1. What brought you here? 2. What is the one thing about your hair or scalp you most want to understand? Step 2: Download Your First Tool Go to the [Classroom Tab] and download the Scalp pH Cheat Sheet. This is your first step in moving from "product-pushing" to clinical science. Step 3: Watch the "Textbook vs. Reality" Video Check the pinned post to understand why your current routine might be working against your scalp's natural biology.
Welcome to Our Newest Members! 🌱

And to everyone else who’s joined - drop a 👋 in the comments so we can get to know you! Here’s what’s coming this week: 📸 Tomorrow (Wednesday): Our first community challenge drops! It’s a simple one to get you started. I’ll show you how to properly assess your scalp (something most people have never actually done). 🎉 Friday: We’ll celebrate wins and progress - big or small. If you haven’t introduced yourself yet, head over to the “Introduce Yourself” post and tell us: ∙ Your name ∙ Where you’re joining from ∙ What brought you here ∙ One thing about your hair/scalp you most want to understand This is a space for real learning, real support, and real community. No judgment. No product pushing. Just science-based education and people helping people. Let’s do this together. 🌱 —Tanesha PS: If you know anyone who’d benefit from being here, invite them!
