This is just a personal reflection on last night’s call. It’s always good to remember that our paradigms are fluid and that we are in full control of shifting our beliefs. In my own journey, I have really prioritized the becoming of a new version of myself. I do have goals, but most important to me, is my character, discipline, and self image as they relate to achieving them.
“Be, Do, Have.” I think it’s easy to look at the outward manifestations of our paradigms (aka: our conscious reality) and assess ourselves as either having or not having “the things we want”. We can look at the actions that we are or are not taking and evaluate our level of doing the things we want to do to have the things we want. But at the heart of paradigm work is our state of being… Be-ing… it is in the becoming of a new version of self through new belief systems that the “doing” and then “having” inevitably follows.
By purposing to crucify our old belief systems about self and replace them with new ones, the rest falls into place. I have experienced that by focusing on one small inner belief, whether it relates to your character, habit, ethic, relationship, etc. you will effectively trigger a landslide of growth. That landslide permanently alters the landscape laying it bare for new growth and infrastructure. It’s muddy, messy, and takes time to solidify, but it is forever.
As an example: The future me is organized and occupies beautiful, clean, orderly spaces. To me this reflects discipline. So I decided to take one action and "be" (act as if I was already organized): making my bed every morning. That led to me organizing my closet with matching hangers. This led to throwing out half dead plants. This led to wanting to keep my space clean and organized because I was now paying conscious attention to my space and how it made me feel clean and organized. As I made these changes, one at a time, I began to notice that I no longer was leaving the empty coffee mug upstairs “until tomorrow”. I was effectively managing my space with diligence and intent. This caused me to believe in my ability to do so which is a shift because I always resolved that my ADD would prevent me from ever being and staying organized. Having proven I can change, my confidence was built. My self-trust was reinforced. If I can do this, I can do more! I am more prepared today than six months ago to hold beautiful things because I changed my belief and my subsequent actions to make it possible.
Bottom line… Just start. Just choose one thing that reflects an internal change in who you want to become that aligns with someone, a role model, who is already living your dream goals.
