The Harvest Walk: Roots & Relationship
Today is Lammas—Lughnasadh—the first harvest. The moment we pause and look at what we've grown. I want to invite you to take a different kind of walk with your dog today. Before you go out, think back. When did you start this journey with your familiar? What was the soil like then? Maybe there was struggle. Disconnection. Big feelings. Frustration. Now step outside together. As you walk, notice the roots of what you've harvested: 🌾 The calmer moments—they grew from your consistency, your willingness to ground yourself first. 🌾 The "yes" moments—they grew from your choice to see your dog as a partner, not a problem. 🌾 The easier care routines—they grew from your patience with consent, your respect for their nervous system. 🌾 The bond that holds—it grew from every small thread you wove, every time you chose relationship over force. You didn't plant these seeds by accident. You tended them. You showed up even when it was hard. You believed in the weave when nobody else understood. This is your harvest. Walk slowly today. Let your dog lead sometimes. Notice how far you've both come. Feel the roots beneath your feet—the foundation you've built together. That's real magic. That's the work. Your Energy is Louder Than Your Words
Have you ever said random words in the tone you normally say specific things to your dog? Think about the way you say "Sit." If you're brave, try saying a different word in the same tone and inflection. After hundreds of clients, here's what I've learned: dogs don't care about your training cues if your nervous system is screaming. Your dog feels when you're: • Frustrated before the walk even starts • Bracing for "bad behavior" • Disconnected from your own body The magic? Ground yourself first. Take three breaths. Feel your feet on the ground. THEN invite your dog into that calm. Watch what shifts. 🌙 What's one place where YOUR energy needs the reset?
