Well… here we are at the end of the week. 🖤 Needles threaded, unthreaded, re-threaded. Plans made, plans reshuffled, and hopefully a few beautiful things brought a little closer to life. Good evening, sewers! A brand new week has arrived and the atelier doors are wide open. Nearly didn't get here, wowzers, the laptop decided to stop at the end of last week so that's been a kafuffle sorting. But here we are, before you pick up your scissors, pin a single seam or disappear into your fabric stash, let's set our intentions together. This week I want to know: ⟶ What are you STARTING — something new, something you've been putting off, something that's been calling you? ⟶ What are you WORKING ON — where are you in it, and what's the next move? ⟶ What do you want to COMPLETE before Friday arrives? Be as specific as you like. Not just "a skirt", tell me about the fabric, the challenge, the client, the dream behind it. The more detail you share, the more we can cheer you on. 😄 We'll check back in at the end of the week and see how it really went. -------------------------------------------------- And a little reminder, we are slowly creeping into our May discipline and it is a beautiful one.🖤 This month we are exploring Historical Costume, and right now we are in the world of the 18th century, panniers, silk brocades, the robe à la française, extraordinary under garments and some of the most breathtaking makes I do say so my self.. If this era sparks something for you, a question, a project idea, a rabbit hole you've fallen happily down — share that too. I had the pleasure to go on a girly date to watch Devil Wears Prada 2 on our Bank Holiday, it was a lunchtime date dream!! The outfits, the humour, (not so many facial lines from the actors showing after 20 years 😆🫣) all of it was fabulous!! Has anyone had the pleasure to watch? Tell us your favourite outfits, I noticed how many blinking ties Andie wore in different styles/shapes. Ties must be in season.. 😜 I loved being reminded how even in fashion, they're having to really think, adapt and change with the time we are in, how they market their couture garments for Runway (Devil Wears Prada fashion mag). I've been reminded the beauty of our skill, sewing, because whatever happens in our future with AI, AI can not remake our technical abilities to construct a garment from scratch and engineer onto a body, that job is ours. I laughed way too much during the movie 🍿 would highly recommend a watch to switch off and enjoy the fabrics 🫶 Claire Amelia 🌸

Happy Tuesday Sewers. I'm a day behind with this week, what's on your sewing machine, needle, table... It was a bank holiday Monday here in the UK, so I made the most of the rain, and got stuck in my garden (poly tunnel up and 5 fruit bushes later). So, we are celebrating a new week, a fresh stretch of time at the table… and I’d love to know what you’re stepping into. Before the pins go in and the machines start humming, let’s set it out clearly. ⟶ What are you starting or finishing this week? ⟶ What’s already in progress that you’re working on? ⟶ And what would you love to complete by the weekend?
