🔥 I Have to Do It
Some of our newer members may not know this, but @Dawn D was one of the very first members of The Art of Poetry Community. Over the past several months, she has been a valued part of this family, sharing her poetry, encouraging others, and reminding us why this community is so special. Life pulled her away for a while, and she was deeply missed. Today, I'm grateful to say she's back. @Dawn D welcome home. We have missed your voice, your kindness, and your presence. I can't wait to read your amazing poetry again. Everyone, please join me in giving Dawn a warm Art of Poetry welcome back.

Arizona
Arizona home of my college Grad student of University of Phoenix Dry environment, hot desert The Grand Canyon one famous site Why? Is it the vast divide you hold? Perhaps the river that rages at the bottom Maybe it’s your great ledges and views Deer walking freely among humans As they knew humans can’t harm them A safe haven for them, paradise A beautiful waterfall pouring off the mountain Breathtaking rocks that seem to change Colors as the sun hits it, mesmerizing But if visiting please remember be safe Don’t be the one that comes a statistic Trying to capture a perfect photo Enjoy it wisely so you can live to share it Don’t forget the Petrified Forest Painted desert floors, petrified trees It’s quite different than the Grand Canyon Still an amazing place to visit, gaze upon Many sites to see but these two were My favorite. Except when my daughter Decided to go out on one of the ledges She made it safely back, thankfully The next morning she got married In that beautiful park, what a memory CDK 5-31-26
Getting to Know Another Mother
I feel like my life's journey has guided me here and to other Skool communities where I've found acceptance and feel a sense of belonging. I don't take that lightly. And I appreciate getting to know you through your expressions. I've been able to express a lot of honesty here, which is quite freeing. My adoptive Mother left this Earth 34 years ago. Growing up, she faced severe trauma along with ten older siblings through very emotionally difficult situations. As my guardian, her behavior toward me has made life difficult. I learned to protect that part of me that didn't believe her words and actions by hiding who I was. I've felt very isolated and misunderstood throughout my life. Poetry has given me expressIon that helps make sense of my chaos. I've posted a poem that was one effort toward expelling my little demons! I've since come through my darkness with the help of writing. Thanks for reading.
