Because it reveals what was never our job to begin with.

Your value was never in having access to information. It was in knowing what to do with it. A buyer can find a house on ChatGPT. They can't tell if the foundation has settled unevenly. They can't spot a desperate seller willing to negotiate. They can't manage their own anxiety when the inspection comes back rough.

Here's what AI handles well: data retrieval, pattern matching, basic calculations.

Here's what it doesn't: judgment calls under pressure. Reading people. Experience-based intuition. Knowing when to act and when to wait.

The agents who struggle in the next five years will be the ones who confused information access with expertise. The ones who thrive will be the ones who doubled down on what machines can't replicate.

Three things to focus on now:

1. Master the consultation, not the listing alert. If your main value is texting someone a new listing, you're already obsolete. Your value is in helping them understand what it means for their specific situation.

2. Build pattern recognition AI can't. You've walked 200 houses. You know what "deferred maintenance" smells like before you see it. That's worth more than any algorithm.

3. Get better at the emotional work. Buying a house is terrifying. Selling one is worse. People don't need more data during those moments. They need someone who's been there before.

The tools change. The fundamentals don't.

The question isn't whether AI will replace agents. It's whether you're building skills that can't be automated.
