The secret technique to find your niche.
If you are struggling to find your niche or if you are not sure about the niche you picked, this will help you have a clear understanding on why picking a niche is important, why it would put you way ahead of other copy writers and how you can effectively find the right niche.
Benefits of picking a niche?
  • It is the only way to become professional at what you do and professionals get paid more.
  • When you know your niche, picking the right client is too easy.
  • You don’t have to think hard to come up with ideas when you are working in niche that is perfect for you.
  • You will be able to easily understand the business language of your client. For ex. If your client is a trader selling a course and during a conversation he mentions SL and TP, you would know that he is talking about stop loss and target price only if you have knowledge about trading and stock market. If you don’t have enough knowledge about it, you would have to waste time searching about it, there would not be a flow in the conversation or when writing copy and you might even get a few things wrong. This is a huge red flag to any client.
But how do you find the niche that is perfect to you?
Now let’s get into the lesser known method of finding your niche. Since this is going to make you think a little, it might take a few minutes to complete, so make sure you like the post and add to watch so you can read it later. Also, open up a notepad or grab a pen and paper to write down the answers.
Let’s begin. Answer these questions the best you can.
  1. Imagine you had a YouTube channel with 100k daily viewers, or you had the ability to reach 100k people, what value can you provide them that would improve their lives? What can you teach them? What knowledge/info can you share with them that would make their lives better?
2. What type of content have you consumed the most in your life? What have you learned from it?
3. What do you really want in life? What do you want to be known for after you die?
4. What do you like/enjoy doing?
5. What do you have the most experience in?
6. What do you think you are naturally gifted with? What is something you can do better than others?
Now all of your answers are your potential niches. Some of the questions would have the same answers but some could be pointing to multiple niches. How do you find the right one?
Easy. Which of the niche that you wrote down, do you have most knowledge and experience in? In which of those niches can you give the most value? That is your niche.
Final step is to start following and subscribing to people in that niche to know about it inside out.
Hope this helped you find your niche. If you still aren't clear, give yourself some time and do this exercise again. Save your answers as they might be helpful to you in the future.
Good luck.
