When I first started copywriting
I used to talk without painting a picture for readers to envision
It resulted in copy nobody wanted to read.
Boring
Unengaging
Uninteresting
Instead,
When you write the way for readers to imagine, not only is it going to be more engaging
It will straight up improve your conversion rates, open rate, click-through rate and all that good stuff.
Stories are the best way to keep people engaged
And it has been for hundreds of years.
And it will continue to be so.
Stories are engaging because we can easily imagine what is happening.
When writing a sales page, sometimes it can be difficult to paint a picture in the reader’s mind
But the easiest way to do so is by sharing your story, your experience with a particular event.
Not only will it be more engaging, but you will also prove your (or your client’s) expertise.
Now, it might be difficult to imagine how to write copy so the reader stops scrolling their phone and instantly clicks on your post/video, so…
Here are some examples that I thought of just now:
Example#1:
When I first started, I didn’t know what to do. I was just sitting and thinking with nothing to show for it.
Example#2:
At the start of my copywriting journey, I used to stare at my blinking cursor in a white piece of ‘paper’ inside Google Docs. My mind was as empty as the ‘paper’ I was staring at.
Even though the first one is shorter, it doesn’t engage, and it is hard to imagine.
While the second one is way easier to imagine and more enjoyable to read.
That’s what you wanna do with your copy:)
Hope this helped,
Laurynas
P.S. If you can, try to include a story when writing a piece of copy. As much as you can.
