Year 4 LJ is happening in 33 hours
11+ jOURNEY Webinar at 7 pm: The one skill that powers every 11+ paper
Tonight’s session is all about vocabulary, but through a very different lens. Vocabulary is not just a list of words to memorise. It is the currency your child uses to buy marks in every single 11+ question. Maths. Comprehension. Creative writing. Reasoning. Everything sits on words. I’ll be sharing how you can use December and the holidays to build a strong vocabulary base without stress. Tiny daily habits, simple games, short challenges and the tools children need to decode unfamiliar words with confidence. We will also open early access to our January Vocabulary Challenge, which always fills quickly. If you would like to join, you can book early through the online store on our website. I hope you can make it this evening at 7 pm. It will be a lovely, light session. Here is the link to register: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/9ZhMuo30TXWNEz2ZrH4-Tg See you soon Sabah

Time Management and Answers in Learning Journey Lessons
Hello parents and guardians, It’s been a fantastic first half term - the enthusiasm and progress from both groups have been brilliant! Just some clarification on marking and time management in the sessions. To make the most of lesson time, I often ask pupils to share quick answers aloud or in the chat. For longer exercises, I may show the answers briefly and ask pupils to use the lesson recording to finish marking. Also: if pupils don’t finish all the work in lesson time, they’re welcome to complete it later as optional homework using the recording to check answers. This approach keeps lessons fast-paced and focused on learning new skills, rather than spending too long marking when pupils have already shown they understand the key ideas. Recordings are uploaded on the same page as the worksheets - I add them within a day of each lesson. Thank you for your continued support, Dale

Free Trial Period – Week 2 Schedule, Links & Worksheets
A few parents messaged me to ask for my opinion and recommendation because their child is in year 5, and they think it is too late. They decide it, and that's it. The competition is high, which we all agree on but I know that it is never too late for the real thing, which is learning, doing and getting ahead. And this is how I approached the 11 plus test years ago with my children. My oldest was in Year 5 when we started the prep, and he wrote 9 or 10 tests (which I do not recommend). We started at home for the younger one earlier, without speaking about the 11 plus. It meant it was better paced and better planned. However, the stress at the end of year 5 was similar, and that was mainly because he wrote 3 tests and had about a handful of options since we had moved and the list of schools had narrowed. It is never too late. This is what I mean when I say it. You need to approach this as an effort-led journey, not an outcome-led journey. We said, if it happens, great; if it doesn't, we will get a school that is good for the boys. And that's what happened. Take it as a 'with or without that school' approach, and you will see that your effort will be as enjoyable as the outcome. Succeed or Learn. We win either way. I recommend you to join Week 2 of the free trial for Years 4 and 5. The link to register is this one here. For parents on this year's LJ programs, links will be in SKOOL Calendar and worksheets in your relevant learning vaults. And for those starting secondary school soon, all the best in your new journey. Join the Oxbridge & University Journey Facebook group.
