Saturdays with the Ancestors
On Saturday, I have the day to myself. I choose to spend my day with my ancestors.
Cleaning the house.
Refreshing the alters.
Yes, you, read that right. I have multiple alters, I have an Egungun alter and a dearly departed alter.
The difference:
Your dearly departed ancestors are the people you actually knew in your current life. This I am finding out includes those who knew of you. You know like birth announcements go out to the family.
I will mention that when you venerate your dearly departed, it elevates them and supports them.
Your Egungun includes all those in your bloodline. On all sides, and known and unknown. Not every ancestor lived of love and light. It is wise to be specific with the type of ancestor you call on.
Yesterday we spoke about veneration, today we communing with them. Saying their names, playing favorite music or movies even. Dancing around. Drinking coffee with your ancestors does so many things!
How will you spend your Saturday?
