Exciting Times Ahead
Just wanted to take a moment to say how excited I am about where this community is heading. There is a huge amount of content on the way covering everything from networking fundamentals and Windows Server through to Linux, cloud, automation, security and beyond. New courses and articles are being added every single day and we are only just getting started. But honestly the content is only part of it. What I am most excited about is building a community where sysadmins at every level can come together, share ideas, help each other out and grow. Whether you are just starting out in IT or you have been doing this for years, there is something incredibly valuable about being surrounded by people who get it. People who understand the late night troubleshooting sessions, the satisfaction of finally cracking a problem that had you stumped for days, and the constant drive to keep learning in an industry that never stands still. That is what I want this place to be. Not just a course library but a genuine community where we all make each other better. I am really glad you are here. Let's build something great together. šŸ’Ŗ Drop a comment below and let me know what topic or course you are most looking forward to seeing added. šŸ‘‡ — Dan

First Two Courses Are Now Live — And They're Completely Free
Really excited to share that the first two courses in the Sysadmin Training classroom are now posted and available to all members, free tier and premium alike. https://www.skool.com/sysadmin-training-5292/classroom Here's what's up: Course 1 — What Is a Sysadmin? If you're new to IT or just starting to explore whether system administration is the right path for you, this is your starting point. We cover what the role actually involves day-to-day, the technologies you'll be working with, the career paths available, and why it's one of the most solid and in-demand careers in the industry. No technical knowledge needed, just curiosity. Course 2 — Homelabs This one is for everyone, beginners and working sysadmins alike. We walk through what a homelab is, why every serious sysadmin should have one, and how to get yours up and running without spending a fortune. I've also included a tour of my own lab setup and a full breakdown of your virtualisation platform options so you can make the right choice for your situation. New content is being added regularly. My classroom is going to keep growing so there's always something new to work through. If you're just joining us, start with Course 1 and work your way through. If you're already in IT and just want to get your lab sorted, jump straight into Course 2. Drop a comment below and let me know which one you're starting with šŸ‘‡ — Dan
Welcome to Sysadmin Training
Really glad you're here. Whether you've just joined or you're still deciding if this community is right for you, I wanted to take a few minutes to give you a proper introduction to what this place is all about. I'm Dan, a Senior IT Engineer with over 15 years in the industry, and the instructor behind Dan Mill Training. I've taught tens of thousands of students covering everything from Linux and Windows Server to Cisco networking, Microsoft 365, Python, and more. I built this community because courses alone only go so far. Sometimes you need to ask a question at an awkward hour. Sometimes you want to talk through a problem with someone who gets it. Sometimes you just want to know you're not the only one Googling the same error message at work. That's what this place is for. What can you expect here? šŸ“š Structured training content — courses and resources covering the core skills every sysadmin needs, whether you're just starting out or already in a role and looking to expand. šŸ’¬ A community that actually helps — this isn't a ghost town. Ask questions, share what you're working on, help others where you can. The more you put in, the more you get out. This is the most critical aspect of IT. Share knowledge. Don't hoard it! šŸ”§ Real-world focus — everything here is built around how IT actually works on the job. Labs, scenarios, and walkthroughs grounded in real workplace situations. A quick ask from me Drop a comment below and introduce yourself. Tell me where you're at right now, are you studying for your first cert, working in IT already, or somewhere in between? I read every reply and it genuinely helps me shape the content and sessions around what you actually need. This is your community as much as it is mine. Let's build something good together. — Dan
