Designing your tree line & manage it - I've build something cool
Hey all 🌱 As most of us are like me working on more consultations and installations, I thought of developing a syntropic agroforestry designer & manager, first for myself but I’m happy to share this openly with you. It really helps me manage multiple client installations, designing & visualizing their designs (also to share them). It's called Syntroply. Main features are: • For each land profile it scores 140+ Mediterranean species to that plot • Designing your tree lines and visualize them (yearly growth scale included) • Automated nursery mapping (combining clients possible) & downloadable plant spacings for when planting on the field with a team • Season-by-season management calendar that can be shared with clients or through monthly management tasks mailing It's still in beta and I'm building it in the open for the people who actually do this work. Two things: 1️⃣ Have a play → https://syntroply.com/ I'd genuinely love your eyes on it. 2️⃣ Any feedback is very valuable to me, happy to build something that really helps accelerate our work in the best way possible. Happy planting 🌱

Design Process
Hi guys ! I've been quite inactive lately. My phone broke which made making videos impossible since the quality of the camera on my second phone was absolutely horrible so I have had to pause videos, hopefully will start making videos again in 2 weeks once I receive my new phone ! But, in the meantime I'm gonna share a screen recording of how I make designs based on water available, crops, prices, light exposure and ect ! Will take you through 5 of my designs for this Autumn ! Will be available next week ! Hope your agroforests are doing good after the heat of Summer has passed - still very present in Andalucia (35 degrees still) and expected to cool down in October/November like usual.
Management accumulation
What do syntropic farmers do while they're waiting for the trees to grow? In theory as the number of rows grow so does the complexity of maintenance, propagation, and preparing of new sites. A good system should build early crops and biomass fast, followed by new planting material. Then fruit, nuts and finally timber and firewood or biochar. How can you calculate the time taken to keep a system running smoothly? I realise I'm asking hypothetical questions because my context is a original food forest, not a new syntropic system. My reason is to debate what's to come.
Changes in climate zones
With several years of unpredictable weather and extremes outside of the climate we would expect. Some tree lines may suffer losses and need gaps filled, I've been thinking about annual plants that may do that job, and in this year's drought, amaranth with it's love of heat and quick growing, fleshy stems and has been and indispensable. Are there any other gap fillers that may help in needy times.?
Mediterranean SAF Whatsapp Group
Hey everyone, just a quick heads-up! In collaboration with Scott Gallant from Porvenir Design, we've created a dedicated Mediterranean Syntropic Agroforestry group. Scott recently planted a 2,000 m² syntropic system in Puglia, Southern Italy, and I had the chance to visit him this week. Seeing firsthand how he adapted syntropic principles from Costa Rica's tropical climate to the much drier Mediterranean climate has been fascinating and there's a lot to learn from him. I've also filmed a second interview with Scott, this time in person, where we dove deeper into his design process, the help he got, and the process he went through to adapt to this new climate. Feel free to join the group through the link below! It's a place to ask questions, share quick progress pics and videos, exchange ideas, and connect with others who work in Mediterranean syntropic agroforestry. See you there ! https://chat.whatsapp.com/FnsLRNQvvVT7xSy7OYhPc2
