MIDI Jitter Ableton vs Cubase
Lots of people complain that ableton isn't very stable and has way more MIDI jitter than other daw's.
I just did some tests, and I have to say the difference is imperceptible.
What I did.
  1. Create the shortest possible noise pulse on my analog rytm.
  2. Create a 16th note pattern at 120BPM for 2 minutes.
  3. Record this in both DAW's with just one MIDI channel and one audio channel, no plugins.
  4. The setup was entirely the same, no background processes and the same buffer size and sample rate.
  5. I imported Ableton's recording back into Cubase.
  6. There was an overal static offset so I manually lined it up as best as possible.
  7. I recorded the audio from cubase 2 times to show variations in the recording itself.
The result is practically the same.
Sometimes we're just too focussed on details that nobody is ever going to hear.
