When you build your training or workout sets keep your goal in mind! If you have a swim meet coming up then focus on all strokes while tapering down to the day before!! If it’s a triathlon then your focus is going to be on the longer distance freestyle!!

Starting your swim workout
Every workout has a beginning and end! With swimming you should always start with a high distance warm up! For example I coach age group swim team on a national level! Every practice starts with a 300 meter warm up whether it be freestyle or their choice! Their focus is to be mindful of technique and a consistent pace!! When you start with a warm up you activate all of the focus muscle groups for that practice or set!!

Building a positive and coachable environment!
When building a positive and coachable environment you have to factor in all aspects of the ages you are coaching, any disabilities physical or learning!! You may have to adapt your coaching approach in a way that best suits the majority while modifying for some!! I coach with a sense of I am their friend on their level but in a way that they understand I am their coach!
