Wisdom Wednesday
Hey there sunshine sisters!! This week's tip is on oven cleaning.
First thing I have to say is if you have a self cleaning option on your oven DO NOT USE IT!!!! Using this feature the oven will get itself up to 900 degrees. As silly as it sounds most of your electrical components for your motherboard of your oven are in a heat path. One of the most common fails that happens with this appliance is due to the self cleaning temperatures. The motherboard has small connections on it and the heat can fry the motherboard out.
Here are a couple ways you can clean your oven without risk of frying the mother board.
Baking soda paste
1/2 cup baking soda + a few tablespoons of water apply and leave overnight.
Spray white vinegar to activate and wipe away residue.
Steam cleaning with a bowl of water and vinegar at 350°F for 30 minutes also loosens grime
1 cup water + 1 cup white Vinegar in an oven safe bowl
Important Tips
Avoid Heating Elements: Do not apply cleaning mixtures directly onto the heating elements.
Remove Racks: Take racks out before applying the paste to the interior.
Protect the Floor: Lay down newspaper or a sheet to catch grime while cleaning.
If you've read this far you get the biggest tip of all.. the glass on the oven/wood burner door and how its almost impossible to clean that stuff off there. Ash from burning wood works to clean that stuff off the glass on your oven or on a wood burning stove. You just get a damp rag dip it in the ash and scrub the glass and the burnt on yuck will actually will come off!!
