Most people think paying by the Due Date is enough. It’s not.
The Problem: Your credit card company reports your balance to the bureaus on your Statement Closing Date (usually 20–25 days before your due date). If you have a $900 balance on a $1,000 limit, they report 90% utilization—even if you pay it off in full two weeks later.
The Fix: Pay your balance down to under 10% three days before the Statement Closing Date.
The Result: Your report will show "responsible usage" instantly, often jumping your score 20–50 points in one cycle.
