🍅🪻✍️NOTES BOOST 7/28/2026
Got my first $12 tomato harvested and the second one is working on getting ripe... Usually, I only plant 1 or 2 tomato plants and I buy them as starts in the spring - baby them in the house until the threat of frost diminishes (though can I tell you how many years we've had bad frost in the middle of JUNE! - this year it killed ALL of my fruit tree blossoms - well except the plum tree - I will get plums)
So, I figure the cost of my tomatoes is generally pretty high - though it is worth it to me as there is nothing in my world that is quite as delicious as a fresh homegrown tomato. Warm from the vine.
Raspberries are doing well and I've got baby grapes on the vine out front I planted a couple years ago. This is the first time I've planted a grape vine and had it "take" so pretty excited about that.

Next Tuesday is going to be a busy day round here (the 4th of August) Not only are we doing the Substack Setup Intensive live at 10am Mtn but we are also joining Adam McCoullough of the Start a Business with no money community and maybe Heather Boers of the Directory community to do a Skool Community Profit Path Finder Hot Seat Workshop.
We will be going through the Skool Community Profit Path Finder Assessment tool and will be looking at the fastest things one can do to monetize their community. And I'll be sharing about the tools John from the Leverage Lab has created to discover where your community might be leaking revenue.

One of the things I love most about Substack is that it isn't just one thing anymore. It's become an ecosystem where each piece has its own purpose—and they all work together.
I tend to think of Substack as having two sides.
🤝 The Relationship Side
This is where conversations happen.
Notes are like walking into a networking event. You discover people, join conversations, share little ideas, encourage others, and meet people you never would have otherwise.
Chats are more like gathering around the kitchen table with your community. They're where ongoing conversations happen with the people who've chosen to spend more time with you. You can ask questions, celebrate wins, share quick updates, or simply stay connected between publications.
Direct Messages are your one-to-one conversations. They're where relationships deepen, collaborations begin, questions get answered, and sometimes clients are born.
All three are about people.
Not algorithms.
Not broadcasting.
Relationships.
📝 The Publication Side
This is where your ideas live.
You can write articles when you want to teach, tell stories, or share something worth returning to.
You can publish audio when your voice carries the message better than your keyboard.
You can create video when showing something makes more sense than describing it.
Different formats.
Same publication.
Same audience.
🌱 How It All Weaves Together
This is the part I think is really beautiful.
A thought might begin as a Note.
That conversation sparks an idea for an article.
The article becomes a podcast episode (or live)
The episode becomes a short video.
The people who respond gather in Chat.
Someone sends you a DM with a question.
That question becomes your next article...
Nothing exists in isolation.
Everything feeds everything else.
Instead of feeling like you have to create something completely new for every platform, Substack lets one good idea ripple through multiple ways of communicating.
That's one of the reasons I'm spending more and more time here.
It feels less like managing a social media presence...
...and more like building a living community around ideas that matter.
