- You either think of yourself as less than others. Or
- You think of yourself as more highly than others. In this case you try to keep up with the imaginary expectations that you assume people have from you, which creates a lot of pressure and anxiety.
Both of these situations stem from the ego and the identity you create for yourself.
But if you look at yourself as equal to every single person, you will never be intimidated by what they have more than you or overly proud for what you have more than them.
