Expats… be honest 👀 What’s the FIRST thing you eat the moment you land in SA?
No matter how long you’ve been away… There’s ONE food that just hits different when you’re home Is it the smell? Is it the memories? Is it just that SA food is elite? Drop it in the comments: - Bunny chow - Boerewors roll - KFC (because SA KFC >>>) - Biltong - Vetkoek - Gatsby Comment the food 🍽

🇿🇦 EXPATS… Let’s talk SA-isms!
If you’ve ever lived outside SA, you’ll know our sayings hit different. 😂 But here’s the thing — our language isn’t just funny…it’s part of what makes our culture so warm, expressive, and uniquely South African. So today’s value drop for the community 👇 ✨ 3 South African sayings that remind us how beautifully we communicate — even when the world doesn’t “get” us: 1️⃣ “Just now” To others: “soon.” To us: ANY time between 2 minutes and 2 hours. 👉 The value: It shows how relaxed and flexible our way of life can be — we don’t rush, we flow. 2️⃣ “Robot” Others: “huh?? A machine?” Us: “Bru, it’s a traffic light.” 👉 The value: We simplify. We make things practical. We call it what makes sense. 3️⃣ “Shame” Rest of the world: sounds negative. South Africans: pure affection, empathy, and softness. 👉 The value: Our language always carries heart. 💬 No matter where you are in the world, share the SA saying that ALWAYS makes people look at you funny — or the one that makes you feel connected to home. Let’s teach the world a little South African flavour 🇿🇦✨
Expats, what’s the one thing you always pack from SA when you travel back abroad? (Biltong? Mrs Balls? 😅)
For me? Mrs Balls Chutney — no contest. It takes me straight back to Saturday mornings with my ouma…Driving to the church bazaar, the smell of easy curry & rice filling the hall, and that iconic chutney sitting proudly on the table. One spoon and suddenly I’m 8 years old again, feet swinging under the chair, feeling completely at home. Funny how one taste can hold a whole memory, hey? Your turn — what’s your non-negotiable from SA? Let’s see which nostalgic item wins the expat Olympics 😅👇
