I am not someone who prays in the traditional sense, and I don't think you have to be for this to be true. Instead, I chat with my spirit team regularly. And the one thing I have learned from them is that they will only intervene if you ask. I have been 'guilty' for much of the time just stating the miracles I want to occur, writing things down in an affirmative way...and not asking my spirit team. Sometimes the miracle would happen, often they wouldn't. I've learned to ask for the help, something I haven't always done in my life. And when it comes to my spirit team, it's amazing what occurs then.
