Short stories vs the big books

Sometimes I wonder if its worth mentioning a few of my favorite books since they are just short stories, for example, "The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell" which only has less then 30 pages and if the type of book would even be acknowledge, since some have more images then words like mangas and graphic novels, for example my favorite manga is a short one called "Deadman's Questions By Hirohiko Araki" sadly prints are of it rare to find as it was in a magazine/ complied with two other short stories, also not to mention finding accurate English translation. But what are you'r thoughts? should short stories be worth mentioning in favorite books list or in a separate category of their own?
