If you’re studying for your Part 107, pay attention to this.
These are the areas most people struggle with — and they’re the reason many fail the first time.
1️⃣ Airspace Classification
Most missed topic.
You must understand:
• Class B, C, D, E & G
• How to read sectional charts
• What the numbers mean (like 40/SFC or 100/30)
If you can’t confidently read a sectional chart, you’re not ready.
2️⃣ Weather (METARs & TAFs)
You WILL get tested on:
• Wind direction & speed
• Visibility• Cloud ceilings
• Temperature/dew point spread
Learn how to decode them — not memorize them.
3️⃣ Loading & Performance
Questions about:
• Weight distribution
• Center of gravity
• Effects of density altitude
Hot day + high elevation = reduced performance.
4️⃣ Emergency Procedures
Know:
• What to do during a flyaway
• Lost link procedures
• Required accident reporting (within 10 days if serious injury or $500+ damage)
5️⃣ Remote Pilot Responsibilities
This is where people overthink.
Know:
• Visual line of sight
• Night operations rules
• Maximum altitude (400 ft AGL unless within 400 ft of a structure)
• Flying over people rules
