Headed out on a 5-hour deployment to search for a lost dog 🐾
Leaving at 1:00 AM to make the drive and help bring someone’s dog home. This is one of the parts of lost pet recovery people don’t always see — the long hours, late nights, and commitment it takes to give families the best chance possible. When a pet is missing, time matters, and sometimes that means hitting the road no matter how far the call is. I’ll share updates from the search when I can. Let’s hope for a safe and successful recovery. 🙏🐶 #LostDogSearch #DroneRecovery #ThermalDrone #SkyViewDroneAcademy #LostPetRecovery

🎛 7 DJI Tips That Instantly Make You a Better Pilot
These aren’t “basic” tips — these are things most pilots overlook. 1️⃣ Set Your RTH Correctly (Every Flight) Before takeoff: ✔ Confirm home point updated ✔ Set RTH above obstacles ✔ Make sure it’s set to Return (not hover) One wrong setting = one lost drone. 2️⃣ Turn On “Display Radar Map” In DJI Fly: Enable the small radar map. It helps you: • Keep orientation • Avoid drifting • Understand positioning Especially useful in windy conditions. 3️⃣ Adjust EXP Settings (Stick Sensitivity) Go to: Control → Advanced → EXP Lower the curve slightly for: • Smoother footage • Less jerky movement • More precision control Huge difference for cinematic shots. 4️⃣ Use Histogram, Not Just Your Eyes Turn on Histogram. Your screen brightness can trick you. Histogram tells you: ✔ If you’re overexposed ✔ If shadows are crushed ✔ If highlights are blown out 5️⃣ Lock Exposure Before Recording Tap and hold on the screen to lock exposure. Prevents brightness changes mid-shot. 6️⃣ Check Compass & IMU Status (But Don’t Over-Calibrate) Only calibrate when: • Prompted • You traveled far • You see drift Over-calibration can cause issues. 7️⃣ Battery Management Rule Never store batteries at 100% long term. Fly them down. Let auto-discharge work. Protect battery lifespan. 👇 What DJI model are you flying? Mini? Air? Mavic? Matrice? I’ll give you one advanced tip specific to your drone. Smart pilots use smart settings. ✈️🔥

🔥 THERMAL SEARCH TACTICS THAT ACTUALLY WORK (Lost Pets & Missing Persons)
Most pilots fly thermal. Very few actually understand thermal. After locating 40+ lost pets using drone-based thermal strategy, here’s what separates successful searches from wasted battery time: 🎯 1. Stop Flying Like It’s Daytime Night searches are not just “day flying in the dark.” • Lower altitude = stronger heat contrast • Slower panning = clearer signature separation • Edge scanning > wide sweeping Animals rarely sit in the open. They bed down near: - Tree lines - Brush edges - Fence rows - Creek bottoms - Wind breaks 🌡 2. Understand Heat Behavior Thermal isn’t just “white = animal.” You must account for: - Ground heat retention (especially after sunny days) - Metal roofs & rocks holding heat - Fresh manure piles (yes… they glow) - Deer vs dog posture differences A balled-up scared dog looks VERY different than a coyote on alert. 🕛 3. Time Matters More Than Gear Best search window:Midnight – 5AM Why? Scared pets hide during the day. They move to feed and relocate at night. If you're searching at 8PM because it’s convenient…You’re likely too early. 🧠 4. Pattern Recognition Is Everything The more you scan, the faster your brain distinguishes: • Deer clusters • Raccoons in trees • Livestock signatures • Bed-down heat vs moving heat You don’t find animals by luck. You find them by repetition and discipline.
