Don’t let this bring down your mood!!
This post is about preparation and a funeral. . .
I am in Houston Texas for my Grammys funeral. She was 92 and was an amazing women and I am super excited to be able to attend her funeral.
This post is about preparation.
When I typically prepare a song, or a song service at church or a weekend fair 30 minute set, I like to take between 10 and 45 minutes of preparation for each song. That may sound like a lot to you, or it may sound like a little tiny bit of preparation. I’ve also played music for over 120 funerals. So I have a bit of a routine.
Tonight I landed after a long day of delays and travel all the way from Alaska to sit with my family and have some family time, fully expecting to be in attendance at this funeral because nothing was communicated to me about the service, and not be playing the music for the service.
Well, I was asked to perform 5 songs. All of which I have never played before…. In 15 hours from the time this is posted…. And I haven’t slept….
So what do you do when you are asked to play new songs last minute? (That’s the reason for this post)
I am honored to be asked to sing and play at my grandmas funeral. Off course I said “Wow! Yes!”
The question remains;
What do you do when you know you can’t get enough practice in to do a good job?
I’ll post what I’m doing to prepare in the morning.
What do YOU do?
