Dream it and Fabric first
Lets revisit the framework for a second. Following this process means we can consider all aspects of jacket making and deal with concerns before they get out of control. This week we're looking at matching our design with our fabric choice. When you've got an idea, or even if you're not sure yet and need feedback, post a picture (or description) of your pattern and fabric below. Working together we can point out things we may not notice ourselves.

So what makes a jacket casual?
Good question right? Answer these and see... Does your jacket □ Have a relaxed, comfortable fit? □ Prioritise comfort and everyday wear over formal tailoring? □ Use casual fabrics such as denim, cotton, canvas, corduroy, fleece or nylon? □ Have little or no shoulder padding or structured tailoring? □ Include practical features like patch pockets, zip closures, hoods or ribbed cuffs? □ Finish around the waist or hip for easy layering? □ Pair naturally with everyday outfits like jeans, T-shirts, knitwear or casual dresses? □ Suit activities like running errands, commuting or weekend outings? □ Feel more relaxed than a blazer or suit jacket? If you ticked most of these boxes, you've got a casual jacket! Find this image here
