Grant writing tips
I am deep in the throws of grant writing at the moment and there are a few things that keep coming up worth sharing
Prepare a clear plan early
Break that plan down into segments of activity so yo can either chase funding for that segment fo the overall project making it appear more achievable, or adjust the scale as part of your contingency planning (eg - if only half the funding comes through we will achieve parts 1 and 2 instead of parts 1,2,3,4,5)
Viability is a core issue
Funders want to know that what you plan to do will be able to be achieved. Evidence of past work, successful outcomes, financial management are all a big part in showing what you can achieve. Collect this for every project you do so you have it available.
Have Evidence of support
Collect letters of support from partner organisation, volunteers, cv's and bios of artists involved, anyone who is contributing to the project. The more you have the better. You may not use it all but often you can combine multiple pages into a single pdf for submission.
