Really enjoyed today's session. The biggest takeaway for me was that "what we do isn't necessarily unique, but why we do it and the stories behind it are". I've spent this afternoon journalling around the exercise, "If my life was a book...", and it's taken me down a rabbit hole of memories. Looking back over the different chapters of my life, I've realised Brighton Stitch didn't suddenly appear when I retired. It's really the culmination of things that have been with me since childhood: learning to knit from my grandmother, watching my mum sew, studying fashion, working in the industry, making my own clothes, and eventually discovering a love of repurposed textiles. I've even designed a book cover for my journal to keep me motivated! 📖 If anyone hasn't started the exercise yet, I'd really encourage you to give it a go. I found that once I started writing, the connections between different parts of my life became much clearer, and it helped me understand the story I'm actually trying to tell through my business.

What I do: I make bath soaks and curate self-care Who do I help: people living with chronic illness and conditions and those looking for nature-based ways to care for ourselves Problems I solve: temporary relief from pain, burn-out, joblessness, anxiety, fatigue, stress Why people should care: if NHS can’t fix you, if you want some control back, if you care about the provenance of what you buy and put in your body My positioning: not really sure what to say here. I feel I have unique authority in that I have lived experience with disability/ chronic conditions AND in finding ways to manage my conditions that allow me to live fully and with joy, despite the pain. What I want to be known for: as a guide to self-healing, helping people come back to themselves through time-tested methods from across the globe yet uniquely rooted in England’s nature.
