Running in sub-zero weather
This question is for all you northern hemisphere runners who see snow and ice on a regular basis!
Have any of you noticed that easy pace runs in sub-zero temperatures (0C or 32F) results in higher-than-normal heart rates? I went for an easy run yesterday in 20F weather and felt like it was much harder to maintain the same pace and intensity level as normal, even if the roads were cleared and I wasn't trying to negotiate running on snow or ice. Wondering if that's typical, or whether I'm just trying too hard??
