Temple fam, let’s get real for a second. We all have that one thing, that habit, that craving, that pattern that keeps showing up no matter how many times we try to break it. ⛓️💥
Scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (self-control/discipline).” That means self-control isn’t something we have to manufacture on our own, it’s something God has already placed within us through His Spirit. It’s not about willpower alone; it’s about surrender, alignment, and daily dependence on Him.
Galatians 5:22–23 tells us that self-control is a fruit of the Spirit. Fruit grows over time. It requires patience, consistency, and the right environment. You don’t wake up one day fully disciplined—you grow into it as you walk with God, make better choices, and allow Him to reshape your desires.
So this week, I want you to name it. Just to yourself or right here if you’re comfortable.
What’s the one thing you keep letting control you? Not to shame it, but to bring it into the light, because what we bring to God, He begins to transform.
We’re not here to judge each other. We’re here to grow together, to support each other, and to remind one another that change is possible through Him.
Drop a 🙏🏽 if you’ve got something you’re working on. Let’s pray for each other and stay accountable.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the strength You’ve already placed within us. Help us to walk in self-control, not by our own power, but through Your Spirit. Give us clarity to recognize what’s holding us back, courage to confront it, and discipline to choose better each day. Shape our desires so they align with Your will, and remind us that we are not alone in this process. In Jesus name, AMEN! 🙌🏽😁
