Today I am a little late getting the daily does out I am at an intensive somatics training at Strozzo Institute. Opening and releasing are not opposites. They are partners.
When we hold — breath, tension, old stories — the body organizes around protection. When we gently release — jaw softening, shoulders dropping, exhale lengthening — space becomes available.
Space for aliveness. Space for choice> Space for connection.
Within the Neuro-Somatic Integration™ spiral, this is the living edge between Regulate and Reimagine. Regulation creates enough safety to release. Release creates enough space to open. And in that opening, something new becomes possible.
Aliveness is not something we chase. It is what naturally emerges when we are no longer bracing.
Sometimes opening feels like expansion. Sometimes it feels like grief leaving the body. Sometimes it is simply one deeper breath than before.
🌱 Micro Practice: Open & Release (3–5 Minutes)
- Stand or sit and feel your feet grounded.
- Inhale gently through the nose.
- Exhale slowly and let one place in your body soften — jaw, shoulders, belly.
- Roll your shoulders back and widen across your collarbones.
- Ask: What becomes available if I soften 5% more?
Notice warmth. Tingling. Space. Or even resistance. All of it is information.
Reflection
Where are you bracing today? What would it mean to release just enough to feel more alive?
