🪘 Level 2 Is Growing — Come and Jam With Me!
Hello everyone, I’m now actively working on Level 2 of the training inside Drum & Feeling Good Academy, and new lessons are being added to the Classroom. I’m sharing one of the new videos here in the Community so you can get a taste of what we are working on. In this lesson, the main rhythm is: Tra – Pa – Ta | Pa – Ta | Bom – Bom But the exercise is not simply about copying the complete rhythm. The idea is to listen to the rhythm while it is playing and interact with it. Choose a small part — for example: Bom-Bom, Bom-Bom, Bom-Bom… or: Pa-Ta, Pa-Ta, Pa-Ta… and keep repeating your chosen phrase while the complete rhythm continues underneath. You are creating another rhythmic layer and learning to hold your own part while listening to something else at the same time. This is where practice begins to become jamming and music-making. It develops your listening, timing, independence, coordination and creativity. I encourage you to go into the Classroom, open Djembe, Drums & Rhythm – Level 2, and work with the lessons. Don’t only watch them — sing, play, repeat, experiment and have fun with them. The Academy is continuing to grow, and I’ll keep adding more training as we go. Listen. Find your place inside the rhythm. Play with it. Come as you are. Join in. Feel good. 🪘💚 — Kouame

Back to the Academy — New Training Videos Are Waiting
Back to the Academy — New Training Videos Are Waiting 🥁💚 Hello everyone, I hope you have all had a beautiful summer and that you are doing well. I’m now back at work after a relatively long summer holiday in Côte d’Ivoire, where I spent many days in the village reconnecting with family, culture, rhythm, and the spirit that continues to inspire my work. Now I’m back and continuing to build Drum & Feeling Good Academy. Yesterday, I uploaded several new training videos to the Classroom, and the course Djembe, Drum & Rhythm and Teach Children – Level 1 now has 15 training videos. Please go to the Classroom, open the course, and continue your practice with me. I’m still building, and more lessons will be added as we go. Take your time, repeat the rhythms, use your voice, move your body, and enjoy the process. Let’s keep the joy of drumming alive. Come as you are. Join in. Feel good. 💚 — Kouame

New Level 1 Training Video: Combining Rhythms 1, 2 and 3
Hello everyone, A new training video has been added to the course How to Play Djembe, Drum & Rhythm and Teach Children — Level 1 in the Classroom. In this lesson, you will see how Rhythms 1, 2 and 3 can be combined into one continuous performance. Practise each rhythm separately first, then follow the transitions and bring them together step by step. I’m also sharing the video here in the Community so we can learn and practise together. After watching, tell us in the comments: Which rhythm feels easiest for you—1, 2 or 3? You are also welcome to share a short video of yourself combining all three. Take your time, keep the pulse steady and enjoy the process. Come as you are. Join in. Feel good. — Kouame 💚

New Level 1 Training Video: Bom Ta Bom
Hello everyone, A new training video has now been added to the course How to Play Djembe, Drum & Rhythm and Teach Children — Level 1 in the Classroom. In this lesson, we practise the rhythmic phrase: Bom – Ta – Bom Using the Zikalo Method, we first listen, then repeat the rhythm with the voice, and finally transfer it to the hands and the drum. I am also sharing the video here in the Community so that everyone can join in and practise together. After watching, try the rhythm several times and tell us in the comments: Was it easy to follow? You are also welcome to share a short video of your own practice. Take your time, stay relaxed and enjoy the rhythm. Come as you are. Join in. Feel good. — Kouame
