What changed my life the most
This post is going to sound a little cliché and on the nose, but it's the truth, so I wanted to share it because it might just help you if you're in a similar position as I was. 2 years ago I nearly took my own life. I had been walking down the wrong path for a long time and hadn't even realised it until I wound up in a deep pit that I didn't know how to get out of. I was so unhappy in the life that I had built. I was working a physical job in London 12 hours a day (it was my own business but it didn't feel like it). I had just ended an 8 year relationship because I blamed my partner for where I was in life, only to realise that my partner had been the only one keeping me afloat, and now that she was gone, I started to sink rapidly. I also managed to gamble away (day trading) 95% of my net worth, after watching it skyrocket to more than I'd ever had in my life. I was left lonely, lost, broke and so full of shame and regret at the mess I'd made of my life, that the feelings of depression I thought I'd finally outrun, came back with a vengeance to try and finish the job. The one thing that saved me, and that helped completely turn my life around to the point I'm in right now, 2 years later living full time as a digital nomad and working online helping people in a way that excites and motivates me, and with the partner of my dreams (that's a story for another post), was gratitude. (I know, so cliché. I hear your groans😅). Gratitude, self acceptance and love, which all come from escaping the ego. That part of us that tries to keep us safe but inevitably keeps us small. When I started to practice gratitude for the things I had in my life (it was hard at first. I didn't think I had much to be grateful for), then the funniest thing started happening. More good things started to show up in my life. It's easy to be grateful when you're a digital nomad. There are amazing things happening every day, kind people welcoming you into their homes and communities, incredible landscapes to discover, delicious food to try, and breath taking views to witness.
