Most closers won't admit this out loud....
For years, my sense of worth was tied to how much I made.
Commission-only rep. Daily, weekly, monthly, my identity rose and fell with the number on the board.
Closed a deal? On top of the world.
Got a no? Worthless.
I was an absolute shitstorm to be around during that time.
Brutal on myself, brutal on everyone close to me. And the worst part, no amount of money ever fixed it.
The bar just moved.
What finally broke the cycle was rooting in something higher. Faith in God. A value system that wasn't dependent on a yes or a no from a stranger on Zoom.
If this is a struggle for you, I'd encourage you to do whatever it takes to detach from it.
A call is just a call. It doesn't mean anything about you.
It literally doesn't mean anything about you.
Separate your identity from results.
Attach it to effort, intention, discipline, faith. The things that are actually yours.
That's how I measure a good day now. Not "did I make money today," but did I show up, did I do the work, did I stay rooted.
Onwards and Upwards, Mason
