#2: Heaps Coming...
Hey guys, I am working on some no bull shit content I never thought I would make, but wish I had 15 years ago.
I am going to show you inside my own businesses and info I have never shared or taught - and never thought I would.
I am going to show you how I build them from scratch or do deals to buy and sell them (closed on two new ones last week), how I make them profitable, the levers I pull to make more profits (but with the key being the user is even more happy, why I have cut many businesses even though making profits, how I get them ready to sell for top dollar. And how I learnt to systemise it.
I still make mistakes, but different ones and still am learning. I am no guru or pro or anything. Just a bloke that has been running business in everything from finance to tech and even outdoors. I am obsessed with business as I love it.
So I am just like you - but if you do a deal with me these days and walk away happy, it is because I made you think you won and we both got exactly what we want. Below I explain how I paid millions to learn how to do it.
I currently own 4 businesses with a fifth that is being built - this hush hush fifth business has never been done this way which is why it will take a while to build. This is a long way my biggest investment in a new project. 7 sites, 100k+ custom pages and a lot of physical hires. It will be by far my biggest business and change a marketplace that people hate. More on that in another post, how I am building it etc
I have rotated between running 2-10 businesses at a time over the years. I learned I could have 200+ businesses or a few that both make as much money. You soon learn 2 or 1,000 is the same as the systems repeat. The signs and patterns are all the same and levers the same.
Honestly it becomes super boring having to check on businsses ticking over and all looked after but you could not care less about. For me if I dont think they actually help people or fix a problem, then I have zero interest which kills my thinking or planning for them. Ends up sucking for everyone.
I absolutely love being in business. It is nice paying the bills, but real business and 'the game' have nothing to do with money. It is why people with billions still make more. You think Elon gives a toss about money? He often sleeps on the factory floor and gets around in t-shirts.
Being able to make people happy and a profit is a big thrill. And the more your product or service makes happy, the more you make. Building a business from scratch into millions of views is not easy, why most never get there, it is the thrill of solving how to do that. Buying a business and putting your systems in place and then selling it at 50x what you bought it is a massive thrill.
Doing deals or partnerships with people who spend 20 milion a day on ads or have 20,000 clients and take home more money before lunch than most do in a year is a huge thrill. I shut up and listen.
The reason it is such a thrill, is because of how hard it is and how many times you get knocked down.
There are so many knocks and it can really suck when nothing works and you feel people watching. I remember standing on my lawn one day years ago thinking something has to work soon as I had put so many hours in.
I had a funny sense of calm as I just knew If I work even harder and learn even more something will click and it did. Then it gets fun. You sit back see what has clicked and how you can repeat it.
Now I could look at 99/100 aussie businesses websites and find 3 or 4 things that would make them more money. I just had a mate literally ask me not long ago to take his website down as too much work. 18 months ago he was at my house going crazy as could not get jobs. We built his site and funnel and it took off for him. He is a tradie, but process is the same.

I look at businesses every single day where they could make so much more profit and I think it is as clear as the nose on their face... but it is not to them yet. It is to me because I have made the same mistakes many times until I finally learned from them.
As I said I love it.
Enough for today. Must get cracking on other businesses. Tomorrow I will take you through how I left millions on the table and why it made me obsessed with learning where I had gone wrong. A lesson that burned into me I became obsessed on learning.
PS: Dont get me wrong I plan on making myself money and fuck you money, but fuck you money where I always get to choose and can help and lift those around me up with me. Fuck you money is different to everyone - and no right or wrong. Some want a yacht beside Bezos or to have xxx money in the bank. Thats cool.
For me I want to be secure with cool things, but be able to say fuck it and give local footy club $50k as they need it or say fuck it and give local firies who in the country work their guts out and nearly all volunteers $100k or fuck it and give a someone on the team a supercar. Say fuck it and close that business as draining everyone. To me that is fuck you money. You get to choose. Huge meeting, but loved one needs you; fuck it team can take it, I am needed.
I can only sleep in one bed. I want it to be the comfiest bed I can get with my loved ones all around with super cool things, I want all the best things also for my family, but I have no need for holiday homes in 20 countries and lose what is most important to me; people and learning.
