I don't DRINK coffee but I do put it up my šŸ‘šŸ˜®
I said it and I’m not afraid to admit it…
I LOVE coffee enemas.
When I do them, I feel lighter, my skin is clearer, my digestion is smoother, and my energy feels more stable throughout the day.
I’ve been doing them regularly for the last few years after being introduced through a health reset program created by a psychiatrist who trained with Nicholas Gonzalez (see video of him below). Similar protocols, like Gerson Therapy, also incorporate coffee enemas as part of their approach to supporting the body.
For many, coffee enemas are a way to support the body’s natural detoxification processes—especially in a world where we’re constantly exposed to chemical, physical, and emotional stressors.
ā˜•ļø So how do they actually work?
A common misconception is that coffee enemas are just about clearing the colon.
While they do clear out the colon (not to be used in place of a natural bowel movement), their primary purpose is to support liver function.
The coffee is retained in the colon, where compounds like caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline are absorbed through veins that circulate to the liver.
These compounds are thought to:
• Support liver detox pathways – encouraging the release and processing of waste
• Enhance bile flow – which plays a key role in eliminating toxins
• Support digestion – by promoting movement through the bowels
• Increase glutathione activity – via compounds like cafestol and kahweol, which are linked to antioxidant processes
• Activate the vagus nerve – supporting a parasympathetic (ā€œrest and digestā€) state
• Support overall system regulation – which some people experience as reduced discomfort and improved energy
Like most things in the wellness space, you’ll find a wide range of opinions on coffee enemas—their benefits, safety, and effectiveness.
My experience has been overwhelmingly positive, and I always encourage people to learn, get support if needed, and go at their own pace.
Have you ever tried a coffee enema?
If not, would you ever consider it? Why or why not?
šŸ’« And if you’re curious and want to talk more about how I approach them, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to share what’s worked for me.
