At the time when it’s become most dangerous to post your thoughts and feelings online in the UK, we’re being told by the UN/EU that we should surrender our online anonymity and “get our news from trusted sources.”..😑 Hilariously, in a gloriously well timed Telegraph exposé it has today been revealed that the most trusted of trusted sources - the BBC - released a fake Trump video designed to make him look bad. So who’s really spreading misinformation? When state-funded media can lie without consequence, and ordinary people can be punished for telling the truth, anonymity stops being suspicious - it becomes essential. Anonymity isn’t the enemy of democracy. It’s the last line of defence against propaganda.

Governments and supranational NGOs are the biggest purveyors of misinformation in modern history- and yet they now claim the right to police it. The UN’s ‘Information Integrity on Digital Platforms’ brief, the EU’s Digital Services Act, and Spain’s new disinformation protocol all sound noble. But strip away the slogans, and you find the same actors who misled the world about wars, lockdowns, and economics now demanding exclusive control over what counts as truth. They call it ‘safety’.
