"THERE YA GO!"
Happy Wednesday all!!! Today I have a question for you. ...Why is it that some people, especially those in the southern United States, say: "There ya go!" in response to almost anything you say? I know you've heard it. You may have even said it. Chances are, when you said it, you were quite surprised at yourself for saying it. You know that phrase..."There ya go!" That seems to be the common three-word answer to just about anything anyone says. I've only heard it in the U. S., and more often in the southern states than the north. There ya go! It's kind of a says - all, do - all, fix - all kind of phrase. I once overheard this exchange at a funeral; "He sure looks good for a dead guy!" "There ya go!" Once I heard a person pour her heart out about an awful situation that had occurred recently in her family. The result was, a Brother-In-Law in jail for at least two years, and the woman's sister and three children have to move in with her. The other person's attempt at a compassionate response..."Well, There ya go!" Could it be that the words, "There ya go!" are just a way of saying: "I have no resonable, practical or helpful advise to give you, so..."There ya go!" Or is it intended to be, in some way, a finite conclusion to a discussion that is either too personal or perhaps too confusing for the listener to continue? Either way, I don't understand it! Wish I did. Well, "There ya go!"

I CAN AND I WILL
What a great day Monday was!!! Had so much to do that I didn't have time to stop by and say anything. But, that's okay, because I actually was able to accomplish more than I had intended. I learned to do things I had never done, nor really-truly ever figured that I would. Thanks to my new and very unexpected friend, AI, I am able to accomplish tasks that previously I had considered utterly unachievable. Let me back up a bit for any of you who are new acquainances. About 40 years ago as I was on my way home shortly after 3:00 PM from my landscape job to pick up my children at the school bus, I was forced to sit in construction traffic for a couple of minutes. As I sat there, I heard screeching tires behind me, and then...CRASH!!! I was hit from behind by a car that the State Trooper said had to be going at least 90 mph. The Trooper told me that he was amazed and he fully expected to see a bloody dead body. Won't go into all that happened after, but let's just say that I was very blessed to live through that. However, I did suffer lots of back, neck, nerve and soft tissue damage. The worst part of the damage, as far as I was concerned is that I suffered a severe brain trauma that left me with very little cognitive ability. I wasn't quite sure who I was and didn't recognize my family and much more insanity. As I hope you can tell, I have been getting better. If someone had told me 40 years ago that I would be able to do some of the things I am doing now, I would have thought they too had brain issues. Several years after my injuries I was introduced to the wonderful and insightful wisdoms of Mr. Jim Rohn. There are many books of just Mr. Rohn's quotes, but this short one has become one of my favorites. And on a day like I just had, it really means a lot. "Don't say, "If I could, I would." Say instead, "If I can, I will." Short, sweet and true. I have been and continue to lean on and trust those words for myself. "If I can, I will." Well, yesterday I could and I did. And what a great feeling that is. Every day, make the decision that YOU CAN AND YOU WILL.

TAKE CARE
Two great quotes today on our well - being: "The person born with talent they are meant to use will find their greatest happiness in using it." ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe There is such truth in that statement. In my own life, I learned early that my greatest talents were in singing, acting and writing. A terrible accident over 40 years ago took those away from me almost entirely. Because my parents taught me to never give up on what you know you are meant to do, I kept trying and getting better and now I am able to once again, do the things I am meant to do. "The greatest gift you can give to somebody is your own personal development. I used to say, "If you will take care of me, I will take care of you." Now I say, "I will take care of me for you, if you will take care of you for me." ~ Jim Rohn How about today, you and I work on ourselves and see how that spills over to the rest of our community? Have a wonderfully healthy day.

UNDERSTAND?
If you are anything like me, there are many things in this world of ours that you too don't understand. Am I right? You know, things that just don't make sense to you. i'm not talking about the big theological issues like creationism vs evolution or scientific, like the fact that all matter under our feet is constantly moving, but so rapidly, we can't fall through. mostly, i'm referring to the simple everyday things around us. Things that, to some folks, seem to be normal and natural but make me stop and say, "Why?" How could they think that way? Why would they believe like that? How could they wear that or say that or eat that...and the list goes on. So, if , like me, there are many things you don't understand...Let's talk about them here and maybe, just maybe, we can all understand each other a bit better.
